Mason Graduates

Our second main event and purpose for our trip to Alaska ocurred last night. Mason Wick our grandson and son of our daughter Marianne and husband Scott graduated from High School with 190 other students here from Colony High. Mason is a fine young man with a lot of potential for serving his Lord in this world. He plans to go to the University of Idaho, where his brother is a Junior. We head home in a couple of days.

Rehearsal was fun and went well

We had a good time last night rehearsing for the wedding. Becca and Luke were relaxed and were surrounded by longtime friends and of course family. It WAS a merging of family and friends and Marty and Nikki did great in providing the dinner and setting the atmosphere. Everyone seemed relaxed and we had great visits.
Practicing waiting for the bride to be escorted in. The church is beautiful. Becca has gone here for many years and the pastor knows the family well.
Marty and Carly watch the steaks, chicken and moose brats being barbequed. Their longtime friend Mike Conners is the cook. Mike is recovering from a very complicated back surgery three days ago!

Alaska Visit

Not many spare moments as usual as we take in some fun as well as thoughtful times. I named this blog Moffat Musings, because at this stage in my life, I keep looking for God's presence in the activities that swirl around me-God sightings if you will. He certainly shows himself to me when I observe how he works and moves in our family.

The Big event this week starts today with the rehearsal for Luke and Becca's wedding. We are invited to the rehearsal dinner that Marty and Nikki are hosting. We are going to try to help in the prep of that today. Barbeque steaks at the Lutheran Church. I will try to show a couple of pics here tomorrow.

We spent yesterday with Bob and Elaine Mitchell. That was a God sighting for sure. He has certainly worked in their lives. It seems like a long time since Bob and I were partners in a snow machine business in Tanana- M and M Sales- and he was not a Christian. Yesterday we reminisced, visited family-Bob and Elaine love our kids-went out to eat a couple of times. they are coming to the wedding.

Not a very good picture but at least it shows that we were there when Mason got his awards and scholarships. He was well rewarded for  a very good high school career. He was almost a straight A student and is obviously well respected by the school administration and his classmates. I overheard the school principal tell his parents "We could take a million Wicks".
We also attended a very cool (cool temp) Alaska track meet where Maria ran a very respectable mile. The pictures are not very good. It was fun
on and a clear day with very white mountains dominating the scenery.
